A week in Spain

We didn't actually cycle home from the Eurocycler training camp in Spain, but it probably would have been faster and more pleasant than our delayed journey.

Despite the volcano delaying things we made the most of the superb shiny tarmac roads and even had the pleasure of riding by Christian Vandevelde whilst out on a training ride.

Here's a quick recap of the days we rode:

Day 2 - Santa Pellaia, a 110km ride with an extra loop through some beautiful little villages adding another 15km to the days total. A glorious 8km climb on the way home allowed us to let rip on the downhill.

Day 3 - Els Angels, the longest ride of the week, the profile says 117km but with a couple of detours to stay on quiet roads and linking villages we did another 10-12km but well worth it and making the most of the sunshine. A steeper climb lasting over 8km took us to a monastery lunch stop with a hot pasta treat.

Day 4 - Romanya, a shorter ride of 75km to regain some energy and spend some time in the spa pool to recuperate. We even managed a quick game of tennis and a walk on the beach, after a relatively short day in the saddle. Time too for extra helpings at the salad bar and trying out a new look in the gift shop.

Funny to think that 75km would be a longish ride at home.

Day 5 - Santa Pellia - a slight variation on a route from earlier in the week, a few less villages to circumnavigate this time but a stunning lunch spot at the top of the climb. Why do we have to go home??
