Brits win big in Mountain Bike World Cup

Rachel Atherton wins first round of UCI World Cup DH

Despite riding with a broken finger and suffering a horrendous crash in qualifying, Rachel Atherton won the first round of the UCI  World Cup DH in serious style.

Appearing at her first World Cup since her training accident in January 2009, the 22 year old from Llangynogin UK, burst back onto the scene with an outstanding performance, seeing her nearest rival over nine seconds behind.  Atherton missed the whole 2009 season due to injury but this result reaffirmed her authority within the women’s field.

Fionn Griffiths wins UCI Mountain Bike World Cup 4X Round 2

It was a return to winning ways for Fionn Griffiths, who has not graced the top step of the podium since mid-2009.

In the second round of the UCI series and in appalling conditions, Griffiths stayed out of trouble while favourite Anneke Beerten and World Champion Caroline Buchanan, crashed out of the race.

The next rounds of both series will take place at Fort William, Scotland on 5th and 6th June.
