Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Feminin

Day 10 - Sunday 23rd May

The final stage of this year’s tour was the 90.5km Carcassonne stage held on Sunday 23rd May.

In a bunch sprint finish Ina-Yoko Teutenberg claimed a third stage win of this years tour, but the race belonged to Emma Pooley.  Rolling in, in a safe 35th position Emma established herself as the overall winner of the 2010 Tour de l'Aude Feminin. Mara Abbot and Emma Johansson won second and third place respectively.  Sharon Laws finished in 15th position overall whilst Lizzie Armitstead claimed 24th position.

Quoted by the BBC, Emma said that the race has been stressful today, but she described her Cervelo team mates as fantastic and said "I feel amazing".  She has became the first Briton to ever win this prestigious tour.  This is the second big stage race that Emma has won overall after she took the Yellow Jersey in the 2009 La Grande Boucle Feminine (Womens Tour de France) and it puts her in a great standing for the 2010 Grande Boucle as well!
