Altura Quantum X Womens Shorts

How nice to find a flattering pair of baggy shorts, with go faster stripes and venting on the legs, all rolled into a female friendly cut short. Comfort is taken care of with stretchy panels acorss the seat and rear panels, so when you are on the gas, in or out of the saddle, you're not restricted in anyway. They are light enough to wear comfortably for an all day trail ride and tough enough to withstand the rigours too.

The waistband is plenty wide for good comfort and a nice secure fit, there are three poppers and a chunky zip fly, which can be opened or closed with your gloves on if necessary. The waistband has adjusters at the rear, so you get a nice personalised fit. It's good to see ventilation on the thigh panels, plus we noticed that the mesh lined pockets also act as vents if you ride with them open, perhaps not when you've got your money in them though. There are more pockets on the front too, especially useful when you're looking cool at the cafe stop, the cut of these shorts is certainly flattering off the bike too. In fact we'd go as far to say they are even quite 'slimming'.

Inside, the Quantum X is fitted out with a removable 6-panel inner short, with a stretch multi-density women specific insert. Simple and effective loops help to hold the inner short in place, or if like us you have a favourite pair of lycra shorts, then you can easily remove the inner short and wear your own. The Quantum X works perfectly well with either option.

We really liked the Quantum X shorts and expect we'll be wearing for quite some time on jaunts in the Peak District as well as the Alps. The price tag was a tad on the expensive side, but careful shopping around could secure you with a lower price.
