Endura's Women's Helium jacket

Isn't it ironic that when you get a new waterproof jacket, the weather seems to dry up for a while? This happened to us with the Helium, so thanks Endura, for the dry early summer.  Luckily for us this autumn is making up for it, giving us plenty of scope for wet weather testing conditions.

Endura Helium Jacket

We totally loved the styling of the Helium, not only is it a super flattering fit, but it also feels delightful to wear. The cut is perfect for sporty women who want a close fit, without being restricted.  The 'athletic' fit also allows for a couple of base layers or jerseys for colder days.  The lightweight fabric is barely noticeable the Helium is that light, and the stretch panels on hems and armholes really do enhance movement.  In fact, there are many nice features and plenty of attention to detail on the Helium, softshell hem and cuff panels allow for a good fit without drawcords or overly complicated fastenings.  Simplicity is the key here, with the high tech features subtly included for a jacket that works well and is a pleasure to ride in.

We've seen asymmetric front zippers on mountaineering jackets and there's a lot to be said about avoiding a cold zipper next to your mouth or chin, plus the strecth chin guard is a great addition. Endura have included a wrapover zip guard and inner storm flap too. The fabric is 2.5 layer, waterproof and breathable - it performed well in a variety of conditions, from warm and wet summer days to the chilly mountain winds with driving rain. It packs up small into its handy little pouch, small enough to fit in a jersey pocket or pack and it barely weighs a thing.

As we said earlier, simplicity is the thing with the Helium, so don't expect lots of pockets - there's just the one on the rear and it's plenty and nicely secure too. We expect some form of reflective material on a jacket, it's not enough just to have front and rear stripes anymore, so we were pleased to see additions on the cuffs and neck. One final point to note is the choice of colours, classic black is always a winner, red is popular and how refreshing to see a white jacket, and it looks fabulous on. Once you get over the worry of getting it dirty, you won't want to take it off, just expect loads of compliments!

A sleek, stylish and well designed jacket!

2nd Opinion by Sara Burdon

The jacket's been out a few more times now, including a very windy cold hike yesterday. I really like it, performed very well and kept the wind out. The chin guard is a great addition, especially if you've forgotten your buff! It fits on very tightly and I wasn't sure at first how comfortable / easy to move in it would be, but was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't restrictive at all, even yesterday with two layers underneath it. My friends all think it looks nice too!
