London women cyclists get a taste of adventure

London Women's Cycle Racing League are organising open day meet and greet rides to get more women to try club cycling, giving riders the opportunity to meet like-minded women and explore the countryside around London.  Women’s meet and greet rides will take place in February and March on weekends in the run-up to the start of the League’s racing calendar on 9th April 2011.

Women enjoying cycling

This spring’s meet and greet rides will benefit from sponsorship from MuleBar, adventurers and makers of natural energy bars.

As experienced cyclists know, nutrition during rides is very important and MuleBar will be fuelling riders' energy needs, handing out bars and gels to women on the meet and greet rides.

Jimmy Docherty, MuleBar Founder, said: “We are very keen to support women cyclist and racers of all abilities, and we know how important getting the right energy is on rides, or put another way, how much easier doing another few miles is after a tasty sweet snack. Whichever way you look at it, our bars are made with 100% natural ingredients and we are pleased to be adding to the taste of adventure of the League’s meet and greet rides.”

Following on from the well-attended club runs led by Dulwich Paragon and Kingston Wheelers cycling clubs, women cyclists are invited to join the following meet and greet rides:

Sunday 20th February - Windsor ride with London Dynamo CC

Sunday 6th March - Hertfordshire ride with London Phoenix CC

Saturday 12th March - Surrey ride with Addiscombe CC

Sunday 20th March - Richmond Park training ride with Pearsons CC

Sunday 27th March - Surrey Ride with Twickenham CC
