Gore Oxygen women’s shorts

These top end lycra shorts are a staple part of the Gore summer riding wardrobe, giving great fit and comfort on longer rides.

Gore Oxygen women’s shorts

The material is compression fit (see our guide to compression wear here), but there is no tight squeeze.  They actually feel light, airy and the multi panel cut is well designed so that the shorts move with you as you pedal.

The shorts are mid-thigh in length and so are firmly a good-weather option, although the flat waist panel makes them comfortable under longs or baggy shorts on the mountain bike too.

The all-important chamois is a true winner.  Gore call it the OZON LADY insert and it covers all the usual bases in terms of being breathable and female specific, with multi-density padding to protect our sensitive bits, but it goes a bit further in terms of the anatomical fit and it is not as bulky as some other long-distance riding shorts, so it does not bunch up awkwardly when you walk.

We really liked that the material on the inside thigh and saddle area is slightly thicker and designed to give improved wear over the life of the shorts.  We have enjoyed a good few hours in the saddle with these shorts and so far, we have found they stand up to wear and washing very well.

The leg grippers are also worth a mention - they keep the shorts perfectly in place and they are wide enough to avoid unsightly bulging.

Finally, we loved that in addition to straight black, and it's not too shiny at that, there is an option with a flash of white or blue around the hip – very flattering and we found they co-ordinated well with other bits of kit we already had.

A supremely comfortable summer short, with compression benefits, but which is competitively priced.
