Wiggle Dragon Ride teams up with Cycletta

Human Race, organisers of the UK’s most prestigious cyclo-sportive, the Wiggle Dragon Ride, have today announced that entries for the 2013 event will open at 9am on November 1st.  The event, which now in its 10th year, has sold out on every occasion since its inception and last year was full to capacity in less than a day, with 4,500 entrants being lucky enough to secure a place in the South Wales event.

Cycletta

An exciting addition this year is the inclusion of a women-only Cycletta ride, which will take place on the Corto route and replace the previous Corto option. Cycletta is the UK’s leading series of women-only bike rides, supported by Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton and designed for women of all ages and abilities.

The 2012 event started from the picturesque Margam Park, for the first time, and will return to this venue again in 2013. Participants were treated to near perfect cycling conditions as they took on three challenging routes; the Gran Fondo, Medio Fondo and the Corto.

In 2012, both the Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo riders experienced a considerable increase in the amount of climbing, with a slight increase in distance, making it the biggest and toughest Wiggle Dragon Ride yet. Both of these routes will remain the same in the 2013 event.

With the innovative series visiting Wales for the first time event organisers, Human Race, are expecting this addition will continue to add to the atmosphere and family offering over the weekend, as well as giving women in another part of the UK the chance to take part in the series.

The event continues to be supported by the UK’s No. 1 online Cycle and Tri-Sport retailer, Wiggle.co.uk. Adam Ryan, Head of Brand Marketing at Wiggle.co.uk said, "We are delighted to be supporting the Wiggle Dragon Ride again in 2013. It is an incredible event that that is widely regarded as one of the most - if not the most – challenging and therefore rewarding sportives on the cycling calendar. We look forward to working with the organisers to achieve an even bigger and better Wiggle Dragon Ride than ever this year."

Prostate Cancer UK is the Official Charity Partner of the Wiggle Dragon Ride. Last year over £75,000 was raised and participants are once again encouraged to support this cause.

Claire Walsh, Head of Community and Sports Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK said “The 2012 event was a huge success and provided vital funds for the charity, helping us to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life. We are therefore delighted to be the official charity partner of the Wiggle Dragon Ride 2013 and hope as many people as possible sign up to take part.”
