Gore Alp X Thermo Jersey

A Gore classic, the Alp X Thermo jersey is light enough to be worn under layers when it is cold, but warm enough to be worn alone for spring and cooler summer rides.  Beautifully styled, highly technical and packed full of features, it was an instant hit with us.

Gore Alp X Thermo Jersey

We have been wearing the Alp X Thermo jersey as a layer during the coldest of the winter rides, but it is time to break it out as a top layer now that the weather is turning milder.  Frankly, we think it is much too nice a jersey to keep covered up – the cut and styling are really flattering and it is a crime not to show it off!

Constructed from super light-weight, thermally insulated fabric, the Alp X Thermo is surprisingly warm, but the highly technical nature of the fabric means that is pulls sweat away from the body and it also dries very quickly too.  The wicking ability of the jersey is aided by the form fitting style, which keeps fabric close to the skin, where it can work its magic and pull moisture away from the body.  In addition, the panel up the centre of the back and area under both arms are made from lighter weight, more breathable fabric and these are in a contrasting colour to give an interesting and flattering look to the jersey.

This jersey has seen it all in testing – long days out pounding the single track and, even though it is designed as a mountain bike jersey, we could not resist wearing it on the road as well.  In addition, it has quickly become a favourite for the daily commute.  Whatever we do with it, we just love the way it looks and performs.

The easy access pockets make it perfect for trails and commuting, with reflective inserts for visibility.  There are five pockets in all; two deep pockets at the sides and two zip pockets at the back, but the zips are placed on the side of the pockets and that makes them really easy to get into.  There is even a slim centre pocket that allows you to stow a mini-pump so securely you can forget it is there.

Held in place with super sticky silicone tape on the hem at the rear and with generous arm length, it stays in place no matter how extreme the ride gets and if you carry any kind of backpack, you will like the abrasion resistant, silicone print on the shoulders – a nice touch and one that ensures this really well put together jersey will last and last.

The zip is a good weight for the jacket and has a wind flap behind it, as well as a snug port to tuck into when it is fully pulled up.  The zip pull itself is actually quite small, but we found it easy enough to grasp in all but the heaviest winter gloves and when we were wearing those we did not find the need to move the zipper from the fully up position anyway!

The collar is snug and the cut gives great protection to the base of the neck.

Gore offer this jersey in a gorgeous array of colours and it is washable at 40 degrees, drying so quickly it need never miss a ride!

The Gore Alp X Thermo jersey is a multi-season piece that can be worn as a light jacket or an insulating layer, combining flattering styling, with tons of useful features and really high tech fabric.
