CRAFT Performance Bike Glove

The Craft Performance bike gloves were packed full of surprises; great fitting, high performance and hardwearing, these mitts have already become a real favourite with us.

CRAFT Performance Bike Glove

One of the best criteria we have for recommending a cycling mitt is forgetting you’re wearing them and the Craft Performance bike gloves do just this for us.

We tested the black/white version and thought the clean and elegant colours looked really classy, with the added bonus that the white mesh across the back of the hand was good at helping to keep our hands cool in the hot weather.  Of course the elasticated mesh gives great ventilation for the hands whatever colour your choose and this fabric has been extended under the gel pad too, so the whole glove is wonderfully breathable and this fabric gives the gloves a really close fit, without feeling tight.

The palms are made from what we found to be a hard wearing material, which thoughtfully have ventilation holes punched in for added breathability and also silicone print to help with grip, even in the wet.  Craft really know what we need when it comes to kit for wearing on the bike and so they have extended this more durable material to cover the area between the base of the thumb and fore finger too, which gives these gloves a real chance of surviving the test of time.

Rather than use a vecro fastener at the wrist, Craft have designed the Performance bike gloves with an elasticated, pull on cuff, which not only gives a great fit and keeps the aerodynamics super smooth, it also means this area doesn’t dig in or leave the weird tan-lines some gloves produce.

Craft really have done a great job with the gel pads, which are perfectly placed to reduce road chatter through the hands.  Our tester declared them “really good and comfortable”, and this was while riding on cloth bar tap.

A common problem we find when riding with mitts is that they can dig in between the fingers after a few hours on the bike, but this really wasn’t an issue with these gloves - you honestly do not notice you were wearing them.

The terry patch on the thumbs (advertised for wiping away sweat, but we all know it’s for snot really!) does the job admirably and hasn’t bobbled up in the wash.

The final surprise was that despite the good, snug fit these gloves are an absolute doddle to remove, even when we were nice and sweaty.   This was thanks to the small, rubberised loops between the middle two fingers.

The Craft Performance bike gloves are packed with little details that really make a difference and for us, make them a winner, because when they look as good as these do and they come at such a reasonable price, you really cannot go wrong.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like and so we have awarded a very rare 10 out of 10 for performance.  We say buy, buy, buy these thoughtfully constructed, beautifully fitting gloves!
