Tenn Ladies Summit Bib Shorts

The Tenn Ladies Summit Bib Shorts offer incredible value for money, but don’t be fooled into thinking these are second rate shorts because the comfort and design is all good.

Tenn Summit Bib shorts

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Tenn Ladies Sprint short sleeved jersey (reviewed here) and so we have been looking forward to trying their bib shorts and we think they have got it right again.

The Tenn Ladies Summit bib shorts appear to be very well made, using a sturdy four way stretch fabric that wicks away moisture quickly and holds it shape well – we have worn and washed them several times now and they really look like they will stand the test of time.

The shape is nicely ergonomic and works well with the female form, something that is critical to making the most of the slight compression offered by the fabric Tenn have chosen for their Summit bib shorts.  As well as this, there appears to have been no short cuts taken in the construction of these bibs either, as all of the seams are flat locked and the leg grippers are very effective at stopping the shorts from riding up.

One of the features that make the Summit bib shorts stand out from the crowd is the very effective “mono-bib” strap arrangement.  This is essentially a “Y” shape that starts at the front waistband as a single strap and then splits into two just over the breast bone, to form the shoulder straps that drop to the waist at the back.  The straps themselves are nicely finished and we found the arrangement really comfortable, which is no doubt testament to the combination of good design and the generous width of the shoulder straps.  In fact, once on everything stayed perfectly in place, without any restriction of movement and we simply forgot we were wearing bibs shorts.

Tenn have chosen a really comfortable, multi density, female specific pad for the Summit bibs.  They bill the shorts as good for medium to long distance rides and based on our experience we think that’s fair.  The anti-bacterial treatment on the pad is a bonus too and we had to keep reminding ourselves that these shorts cost just £34.99!  They even look good, in plain black with a large “t” in reflective material on the right leg.

If we have any reservations then it would be only about the length of the leg.  At just 19cm they are shorter shorts than many, but as our reviewer pointed out, preferred leg length is very much a matter of personal choice

Overall the Tenn Summit bib shorts are well styled and comfortable, way beyond expectation based on looking at the price tag – definitely worth a try.
