Craft Storm Glove

The Craft Storm Glove is a slim fitting option that gives good protection from rain and wind chill, to a level that works well for winter riding on all but the very coldest days, and with no loss of dexterity or feel, while offering enough comfort for longer rides.

Craft Storm Gloves

As a brand, you can be confident that Craft kit will fit and perform well and their clothing for cold weather stands out as being particularly good.  We have had the Storm Glove on test since the beginning of winter and we liked the warmth they provide, because it does not come at the cost of touch and feel, as is so often the case with winter gloves.

The Craft Storm Glove is not a super bulky glove for really cold conditions, but the combination of a windproof and water resistant outer makes them just right for most of the winter rides we have had this year.  In fact, the days when these gloves would not have been warm enough are probably the days when you might not want to venture out anyway – we know, we tried and fell off on ice!

Craft have lined the Storm Glove with a soft, insulating fleece fabric that keeps your hands warm without being as awkward as the really cold weather options, such as their Siberian Glove.  The top of the Storm Glove is waterproof, whilst the palm uses a thinner softshell fabric, with just enough cushioning to keep you comfortable on long winter rides.  The combination is not completely waterproof, but water resistant enough to deal with light showers.  They are however wonderfully windproof and so they are in their element on cold dry days.

We liked that Craft have been generous with the silicone print on the palm, which extends up the index and middle finger, and this gives excellent grip on the bars, brakes and gears in all conditions.

Typically the fit from Craft is just right.  Our tester has long fingers, but had no complaints with these gloves.  We found Craft’s ergonomic design allowed for an easy grip on the bars, with no resistance when reaching for the brakes and enough precision to operation our computer as well.  There is a deep, soft neoprene cuff that has been double stitched to cope with the inevitable pulling involved with getting gloves on and off, a process which is rather handily facilitated by the addition of a sturdy tab on the cuff just at the point where you grab to pull.

Craft kit is always a great investment and the Storm Gloves appear to be built to last.   Testament to that is the sturdy suede-like fabric that has been sewn between the thumb and forefinger, this adds great reinforcement to the gloves whilst you are riding on the hoods.

The terrycloth patch took a lot of abuse during our testing process.  The nose and face wipe area is undoubtedly an important feature of any winter glove, so we are happy to say that it is not only soft and absorbent, but super-sized too, extending all the way to the top of the thumb from the wrist.

And finally Craft have included some reflective patches as well, which includes a large logo and stripes across the back of the hand.

If you are looking for a slim fitting, warm winter glove, that protects against wind and light rain, whilst also offering the comfort needed for long winter miles, then look no further than the Craft Storm Glove.
