Stolen Goat Bodyline Swift jersey

We are enjoying our summer riding in the super-lightweight, figure skimming, performance oriented Stolen Goat Bodyline Swift jersey and what a pleasure it is to wear!

Stolen Goat Bodyline jersey

Our first impressions of the Stolen Goat Bodyline jersey were all good.  We had not come across the brand before and we were interested to learn that it came with some big claims around fit, comfort and fabric technology.  Now that we have had a chance to wash and wear this jersey on a number of good long rides, we can tell you that all of these claims seem entirely fair to us.

Straight out of the packaging the jersey felt very lightweight and the fabric was gloriously soft to touch but it was when we tried it on that we got the biggest wow-factor, because the fit just blew us away.  It really does follow the figure perfectly and the four-way stretch means that it allows for a total range of movement without any restriction.  It suggests that the designers at Stolen Goat have really thought about the female shape and we also liked the longer length at the back, which gave good coverage to the lower back.  The bottom line is that we found everything stayed perfectly in place during hour after hour of training and trust me we really put it through its paces on a training camp in Mallorca.

And it is on the really hot days that we really appreciated just how well ventilated this jersey is, as well as the UV protection it offers.  If you do get wet, it dries extremely quickly  - we tested this by riding through an irrigation sprinkler that was spraying deliciously cold water over the road – but most important of all we found it wicked away sweat faster than we could produce it and that was no mean feat on some of the climbs we rode!

The sleeves are cut to be a little longer than normal and with nothing to flap around they offer aerodynamic benefits for those who are chasing marginal gains.  But we were more excited by the raw, lazer cut ends which means three are no seams, no bulk and no chafing.  Of course for this to work properly the fit around the upper arm really does need to be perfect, baggy sleeves are not going to deliver the benefits, but Stolen Goat have used a particularly light and stretchy fabric for the sleeves and crucially, got the fit just right, so that they are beautifully aero on everything from the skinniest arms, right the way through to “big guns” and we thought they were awesome.  If you have ever suffered irritation from a more traditional hem arrangement at the bottom of your cycling jersey sleeves then this is a jersey you will love on first wearing.

Stolen Goat have included the regulation three rear pockets but this jersey is full of nice little surprises and one of these is the fourth, water resistant, zipped pocket that is just big enough for a smart phone and will keep it safe from sweat and showers – a really nice touch that we really appreciated when we were caught in a summer shower a long way from home.

A full length zip is always a bonus, especially if you want to take your jersey off without removing your helmet and Stolen Goat have not cut corners with the quality YKK zip which worked perfectly every time for us.  Few things are more annoying than a zip that catches and snags, and it is always a joy to find one that does exactly what it promises, time after time.  We think you should be able to adjust your zip on the move and we were able to do this with ease.  In line with the attention to detail throughout this Belgian made jersey there is a neat little garage to tuck the zip pull away into and which protects the neck from chafing – never a great look!

The other feature that is worth a mention is the use of heat transfer labels, which means there are no annoying labels tickling or scratching at the back of your neck.  It sounds so basic but if you have ever cut a label out of a jersey to avoid that irritating tickle you will absolutely love this.

Stolen Goat talk about their kit offering all day comfort, for us this means we should be able to put kit on in the morning and ride for hours without even thinking about it until we take it off again at the end of the ride, with a happy, if exhausted, little smile on our faces.  This is a jersey is part of a range that includes bib shorts, socks, jackets and gilets and if the Bodyline jersey is anything to go by it is a range worth checking out.

The Stolen Goat Bodyline jersey not only looks great, the fit is second to none, the features well thought out and that all adds up to a jersey that is ultimately wearable.  We will be grabbing it time and again throughout summer.
