Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light

The Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light is everything you could ever ask for in a light; beautifully designed, seemingly indestructible, super-bright, robust, easy to use and with an impressive battery life that is USB rechargeable – perfect for commuting and training.

Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light

We have been testing the Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light for a while now and that has been easy because we never leave home without front and rear lights on the bike, plus another on the back of our helmet and in poor light, one clipped to the tail of our jacket too.  In our world there is no such thing as “too visible” and thanks to Knog we have all the kit to light up our lives.

The latest addition to our Knog family is the Mob Kid Grid Light which packs 16 LEDs (in four rows of four lights, all on a reflective background to boost the brightness) and boasts an impressive 80 lumens of light at the front and 44 at the rear.  What does that mean?  Well, in our experience it is almost annoyingly bright (Just to be clear, that’s a very good thing) and in practical terms grabs the attention of other road users up to 1.2 kilometres away!

With five different modes you can use the Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light in one of two constant or one of three flashing modes (steady high, steady low, strobe flash, fancy flash, eco flash) and trust us when we tell you that you will make no friends at all if you use the rear light in any of the flashing modes in a group ride – we reckon it’s up there with the Formula 1 rear light and we are not going 150kmph!

Depending on the mode, the battery life of the Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light can be as much as 60 hours on Eco Flash and that means we only needed to charge it once every couple of weeks, even with daily commuting.  In reality, we tended to use it on a brighter setting and charge it more frequently and whatever option we used we really appreciated the little red warning light at the back which told us when we needed to recharge it.  Of course, when it does need to be recharged, it could not be easier – plug it into a USB, ignore it for four hours and the little red light turns green to confirm the job is done – simples!

In keeping with other Knog lights we have had the pleasure of testing, the Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light is really easy to clip to bars or seat posts of various dimensions and the on/off and mode selection is by means of a single button at the back.  And while we have not managed to break a strap on any of our Knog lights, we like that they are replaceable and that also means it is easy to change to fit to oversized bars or an aero seat post and once in place it is wonderfully secure too.

With one of the wettest winters on record we have been able to test the waterproof promise of the Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light, over and over and over again!  It has withstood rain, sleet and snow, plus the power spray of a hose when we are washing the bike off afterwards.  In fact we have been using Knog lights for years now and never have we managed to damage one in any way despite exposure to all the elements, the odd crash and dropping because of fumbling frozen fingers – these babies are built to last and last and last ...

We are really fussy about what we put on our bars but we have never hesitated to slip on a Knog light.  To be fair at just 35g and measuring 42x42x62mm there is very little lost space in the cockpit and the advantage gained in terms of visibility is priceless.

Commuting or training, whatever the light conditions, these little lights are life savers and at £39.99 we think they represent stonking value for money for such a beautifully designed and constructed lights.  All that and there is something about Knog and their mild irreverence that we love.  We haven’t left home without the Knog Blinder Mob Kid Grid Light since it landed in our offices.
