RTTC Rudy Project Series Round 1

Sarah Storey rocketed to victory in the first round of the Rudy Project time trial series.  She won by more than 3 minutes, from fellow international Rebecca Romero on the hilly 24 mile course.

Romero, the reigning Olympic Individual Pursuit Champion, is relatively new to road time trialling and is coming back to cycling after almost a year out of competition.  It will be interesting to see how she adjusts as the series continues.

After the race Sarah said, "It was a tough course but interesting to ride.  It was windy and hilly, and it suited me.  It’s a good win to start the season for me and Horizon Fitness Racing Team.”

Team Manager, Stefan Wyman said of the win, "I’m really pleased for Sarah.  It’s the team’s first win, in our first major race.  We all know how good Sarah is, and you only have to look at the nature of her win to see that.  There are quality riders behind her and her winning margin was more than 3 minutes."

The team prize went to Orbea - For Goodness Shakes! who only fielded two riders but secured the win with both of these riders in the top 5 - Romero second and team mate Emilie Fisher fifth.
